How to care for solid wood furniture

General Cleaning and Care

  • Easy to clean: Use a soft or slightly damp cloth.

  • Avoid aggressive chemicals: Do not expose furniture to chemicals that may damage it.

  • Do not use water: Avoid cleaning furniture with water to prevent damage to the wood.

  • Sun protection: Protect furniture from direct exposure to sunlight to prevent discoloration and surface damage.

  • Use of protectors: Use tablecloths, coasters and protectors to avoid marks and stains from liquid spills or excessive heat.

Deeper Table Protection

Before using the tables, it is recommended to apply colorless wood wax to the surface. This will form a thin layer that will protect against liquid absorption. The number of wax applications will depend on the intended use of the table. All other furniture: Should be treated 1-2 times a year with wood oil to protect and moisturize the wood.

Recovery of Tables Affected by Liquids

If your table has been affected by liquids, you can recover it quickly and easily by following these steps:

  • Lightly sand the affected surface with a soft sponge. Remove dust with a dry cloth.
  • Apply wood oil.
  • After 20 minutes, remove excess oil with a cloth. Drying time approx. 24 hours.

Temperature:

  • Ideal range: Keep the temperature between 18°C and 24°C (65°F and 75°F).

  • Avoid sudden changes: Sudden temperature variations can cause wood to expand or contract, causing cracks and warping.

  • Away from heat sources: Do not place furniture near radiators, fireplaces, stoves or other direct heat sources.

Humidity

  • Humidity level: Keep relative humidity between 40% and 60%.

  • Use of dehumidifiers: In very humid climates, use dehumidifiers to prevent the wood from swelling.

  • Use of humidifiers: In very dry climates, especially in winter with central heating, use humidifiers to prevent the wood from drying out and cracking.

  • Ventilation: Make sure the room is well ventilated to maintain a balanced humidity and prevent mold build-up.
